Letting Go of Social Media

The year of 2020 and beginning 2021 amplified the influence of social media on advocacy for one's personal views. There are many cause I would be keen to throw my support around and wish those movements much success (social justice movements, specifically) On the contrary, there are other movements to which I detest. As a primarily a consumer of content on social media sites, it was often hard to ignore those positions to which I felt held no place in today's society. With even more of this in 2021, I was moved to step away from social media until I found what I wanted from the platforms.

Seeking Discovery

My move to the west allowed me to discover activities that were beyond my previous realm of possibility. This new environment made it easy to access those previously undiscovered endeavors and pursue the joy they provide. In an effort to continue to embrace new possibilities, I am trying to be more open to activities that would allow me to engage with my environment and find joy in the growth process.

Pencils, Pens, and Paper
Growing up in the blended environment where technology was growing in popularity and paper slowly losing its hold, the medium that one chooses will dictate how that person engages in the activity. With technology being a focus of my work, I embrace the value of computers and technology in the modern world. However, on a more personal level, I keep finding myself drawn to paper, fountain pens, and paperback books. With an attachment to the "pre-technology" world of my youth, I am trying to find the right tools for the task.
